I am back with a NEW 5 min portrait video and this time its the 5 min portrait Polaroid Edition.

Adam has a Polaroid 450 instant camera that takes Fuji Instant Film. We thought it would be fun to do a portrait session using just the Polaroid camera and seeing what we were able to capture.

Lines and leading lines play a huge part in photography. Which way do you want your viewers eyes to go, what direction do you want people to look. Lines control all of this, lines could be something as simple as an edge to a table or even power or rail lines. Leading lines could be anything from a long road or fence that take you in out or around an image.

It is your assignment to get out there and find lines and or leading lines that are all around us.

I got an e mail from Abe who had a bunch of great questions. Not only does he have great work but he is a really great guy.

What I love about having people on the skype line is we come up with full on marketing plans for photography. Half way through this video we start to discuss how abe can market himself for his style of work.

Try to take what I said and translate it into what you like to shoot.

Canon just announced the 1D X FULL frame 18 Megapixel, Hi-ISO shooting, 12 FPS Snapping, 1080 24FPS and 720 60FPS BEAST.

This camera has so many new or reworked features from the image sensor itself to new buttons and an fully reworked autofocus system.

You will see in the video below my thoughts on this camera as well as what the new key features are. I hope to get my hands on one of these at PPE11 next week so I can try out some of the new features for myself.

The one downside to this camera that I see is the current price point of $6,800 that is just way up there compared to where the Mark III was but not as much as the 1Ds series.

One thing every photographer worries about or should be worrying about is protecting your photos for the long term. You all know that I use Drobo who also sponsors some of the videos on the site.

This video and post is not about buying a Drobo it is about protecting your data with redundancy any way possible.

The reason this is coming up now is I came home from FLA to my DROBO telling me I had a drive go bad. Now even though the one drive failed all of my data was still safe on the other 4 drives in the DROBO. All I had to do was pop out the bad drive and replace it with a new drive and within ten minutes the drive was update and ready to go.

It is very important that you protect your photos anyway possible. If this means going to OtherWorldComputing.com and purchasing one of their RAID set ups or simply having multiple harddrives on your desk just do something. As we have been told for ever, its not a matter of if a drive fails but when, best off being prepared.

This is Adam and my RAW edit of this weeks RAW file.

At first I was not happy with my edit but after living with it for a while I thought it worked out very well. Adams edits also worked out very well.

This file had so many angles that people could take and I know they have taken them as you can see in the forum.

So many people take photos with their Apple Iphones and now with the release of IOS5 and the Iphone 4s we have some new features.

We can now take a photo by pressing the + button just like we would with a regular camera.

In this video I talk about how to hold the camera for maximum stability along with how to cheat the metering system to change the photos exposure.

It is always interesting finding a direction to take your edits and its even harder when the photographer who took it is on the other end of the screen.

I really dig Adams muted color photos, I think it pops but not in the normal way with a lot of contrast. He was able to capture a very even color from the bench to the trees to the subject.

When it came to finding the black and white edit for my photo I was so surprised with what I was able to get. I did a small edit in light room than opened the file in Silver Effex Pro 2. I hit one of the sliders and it tightened up the photo so much that I could not believe what I was seeing.

Now I am sure that the software wouldn't make every single image I take into it pop but what it did was just amazing.

For this weeks RAW Edit of the WEEK 49 I thought it was time to bring out a good old landscape as it has been a long while since we have had one of those. But I also thought it would be fun to put up the polaroid shots from Adam and my 5 min portrait polaroid edition.

I had the pleasure of hosting one of Zack Arias's amazing OneLight workshops and I have to say I learned so much. What is amazing about his workshops is how much attention everyone who attends receives. There is no question left unasked and there is no time limit put on learning.

Zack broke down how easy it can be to start with OneLight, a stand and a modifier (umbrella, softbox, etx) and get amazing flash photos. He uses real world examples and breaks everything down in such a way that even the very beginner photographer will understand.
